20 Questions

I thought it’d be fun to play a game so…How ’bout 20 questions?

If you don’t know, here’s how to play:

One player is chosen to be the answerer. That person chooses a subject but does not reveal this to the others. All other players are questioners. They each take turns asking a question which can be answered with a simple “Yes”, “No” or ”Maybe.” The answerer answers each question in turn.  Lying is not allowed, as it would ruin the game. If a questioner guesses the correct answer, that questioner wins and becomes the answerer for the next round. If 20 questions are asked without a correct guess, then the answerer has stumped the questioners and gets to be the answerer for another round.

“Be fun!” as Emma would say. I’ll start…I have my subject. And go…

Danielle - I think it is great that in your category cloud the some of the most frequently used topics are Fun Times, God is Good and Laughables. You are one of the most upbeat people I know! I love that about you!

    I love you!

  11. 11 alece 24 April 2008 at 1:01 am

    does it require water?

  12. 12 daniellehodgson 24 April 2008 at 2:21 am

ummm…technical question / thought: was i supposed to say at the beginning “person, place, thing, animal, mineral”??? or is this now irrelevant?

so i’ll answer the asked questions, but given author scatterbrainedness we might have to stop this train and start over.

Is it used by humans? no (16)
does it require water? no (15)

  13. 13 whatireallywanttosayis 24 April 2008 at 2:34 am

    ::SHRUG::

  17. 17 @ngie 24 April 2008 at 3:45 am

To answer your technical question… yes a category at the beginning is usually customary. Don’t fret about it. New ventures always have kinks that need to be ironed out. I am not giving up.

You can tell us the category if you like - or we can just keep asking questions. (We are well trained at questions thanks to Mandy.) You started the game so you get to pick.

  18. 18 daniellehodgson 24 April 2008 at 3:55 am

Lece, does your shurg mean “too bad your crazy” or “oh well, we’ll keep playing” or “i give up”?

@ngie: next time we’ll start with a category AND how ’bout i give you one now: PERSON (yes, this is for this line of questioning.) i’ll not give any more hints, but reread the questions and if i’m still terrible at this game, i’ll give another hint. all my answers have been correct - i’ve checked with multiple objective third parties.

  19. 19 alece 24 April 2008 at 3:59 am

  79. 79 @ngie 24 April 2008 at 1:33 pm

Wait a minute!!! So comment 30 says “religious” figure - which I assumed meant bible character - shame on me! :-)

  80. 80 @ngie 24 April 2008 at 1:34 pm

    Not Old Testament

    Because = Not BIBLE

(ok this is me assuming again… could be off)

  83. 83 alece 24 April 2008 at 1:52 pm

is he a christian religious figure??? (maybe we’re way off here)

  84. 84 @ngie 24 April 2008 at 1:54 pm

Wow - you are really good at this Alece! What a great question!

  85. 85 daniellehodgson 24 April 2008 at 2:19 pm

is he a christian religious figure??? yes…2

  86. 86 daniellehodgson 24 April 2008 at 2:21 pm

(should we extend the game 7 questions more since i goofed and didn’t give the subject until 7 questions in… ;) what do you think?

  87. 87 @ngie 24 April 2008 at 2:30 pm

As an aside - I was mulling over this and thought to myself, “Why would she have said he was white if he was a bible character. She would have been more culturally aware than to say that he was white when he was in fact olive complexion or another ethnicity.” I was stumped. So that should have been the non bible clue.

So we’ve got a white dad, buried in the Northern Hemisphere that was a Christian religious figure.

    hmmm

  88. 88 @ngie 24 April 2008 at 2:34 pm

    To answer your question…

There is a version of the game that is played without categories. So I will leave it up to you. But I would suggest that if you do institute the category rule in the future that you clearly define the categories that can be given. Might want to make a list of categories and make the answerer choose from those few.

  89. 89 danielle 24 April 2008 at 2:35 pm

@ng…i know better than that. lol. i even chuckled as i answered that question thinking that should be a good clue.

  90. 90 danielle 24 April 2008 at 2:48 pm

Okay, okay. I’m obviously a rookie…SO to make you all want to come back, lets meet in the middle and add 3 extra questions. SO now there are 5 questions left.

In the future, the answerer can decide if she (or he) wants to give a category and there will be a list of categories from which to choose.

  91. 91 @ngie 24 April 2008 at 3:02 pm

    Was he European?

I like your wordpress spot!!! Is the change official?!

You girls have been having fun with this 20 questions business!!! I’ll try and catch the next one a little sooner :)

  104. 104 alece 24 April 2008 at 11:41 pm

    i have NO IDEA!

  105. 105 @ngie 25 April 2008 at 1:05 am

Just guess somethin’ Alece… 50 / 50 chance - either you guess it right or you guess it wrong.

I give you permission to not be perfect - - - just this once though. ;-)

Or we will stand in awe of your divining abilities…

  106. 106 daniel 25 April 2008 at 3:31 pm

i really want to spill the beans but i don’t think that would be fair (and danielle would hurt me). BWAAHAAHAAHAAA (that was me laughing in a very sinister voice)

  107. 107 alece 25 April 2008 at 8:43 pm

gah. i really have no idea.

    complete guess:

    is it … martin luther?

  108. 108 @ngie 25 April 2008 at 9:13 pm

That was one of my guesses too…

  109. 109 danielle 25 April 2008 at 10:11 pm

YES!!! YES!!! YES!!! nice…20 questions! (maybe 23)

Was this fun for you? If you are interested in playing again next week or whenever, Alece would be the answerer…what do you think?

  110. 110 @ngie 26 April 2008 at 12:30 am

    No way!!! :-)

I mean - I am happy for you and all…

But I would have guessed Luther except that the answer was ‘no’ to “Was he a proselyte?” and Luther was a most devout Catholic monk before he changed and left the church. He was excommunicated after his little note that he nailed to the door of the church denouncing their un-biblical practices.

Unless you are not considering Christianity a religion - which I guess I can understand…

    I digress… :-)

This was fun. I totally will play again. Alece - just let us know the day and I will be there. :-)

    Such a fun idea Danielle.

  111. 111 alece 26 April 2008 at 12:34 am

sure. i’ll have to think of something GOOD! and hopefully have time to be online to answer the questions!

  112. 112 alece 26 April 2008 at 12:35 am

    fun game. thanks, friend!

  113. 113 danielle 26 April 2008 at 2:28 am

    Angie,

That was why I waivered on the prostelyte question. I am aware of his catholic / lutheran / reformation sitatuation but as I thought about it I figured (in accoradance of Vatican II :) ) that Catholics and Protestants are both “saved”. Even though Catholicism was in error then, it was technically Christianity. And I didn’t think making up a new way (Lutheranism) was the same as converting. Still, I wouldn’t consider enlightenment the same as conversion. Neither would I consider a Catholic/Lutheran conversion a change of relilgions. It was a tough question with lots of different ways to look at it.

All in all, I had a lot of fun as I hope you all (you two) did. Alece, when you are ready and feel up to it let me know and we’ll start another one. :)

  114. 114 @ngie 26 April 2008 at 2:44 am

Ah - I understand now. Cool.

It’s a tricky thing that religion thing.

I did have a bunch of fun.

  115. 115 annie 26 April 2008 at 2:54 pm

oh poo. I missed the whole thing. It was fun reading, though. Glad he didn’t need water. ;)
