I thought it’d be fun to play a game so…How ’bout 20 questions?
If you don’t know, here’s how to play:
One player is chosen to be the answerer. That person chooses a subject but does not reveal this to the others. All other players are questioners. They each take turns asking a question which can be answered with a simple “Yes”, “No” or ”Maybe.” The answerer answers each question in turn. Lying is not allowed, as it would ruin the game. If a questioner guesses the correct answer, that questioner wins and becomes the answerer for the next round. If 20 questions are asked without a correct guess, then the answerer has stumped the questioners and gets to be the answerer for another round.
“Be fun!” as Emma would say. I’ll start…I have my subject. And go…

Is it alive?
no (19 left)
is it a place?
is it man-made? (I love 20 questions)
alece - is it a place? no (1
annie - is it man-made? no (17)
funny - the 18 and ) made a sunglasses face.
So it is something inanimate and made by someone other than man. Hmm…
Is it used by humans?
This is fun!
Thanks Thumbuddy for putting the comments feed on your site… you are so sweet
Danielle - I think it is great that in your category cloud the some of the most frequently used topics are Fun Times, God is Good and Laughables. You are one of the most upbeat people I know! I love that about you!
I love you!
does it require water?
ummm…technical question / thought: was i supposed to say at the beginning “person, place, thing, animal, mineral”??? or is this now irrelevant?
so i’ll answer the asked questions, but given author scatterbrainedness we might have to stop this train and start over.
Is it used by humans? no (16)
does it require water? no (15)
Is it anywhere on planet earth?
Is it anywhere on planet earth? yes to maybe (14)
(sorry if you all think i am horrible this and never want to play again…maybe next time someone else should start!)
::SHRUG::
To answer your technical question… yes a category at the beginning is usually customary. Don’t fret about it. New ventures always have kinks that need to be ironed out. I am not giving up.
You can tell us the category if you like - or we can just keep asking questions. (We are well trained at questions thanks to Mandy.) You started the game so you get to pick.
Lece, does your shurg mean “too bad your crazy” or “oh well, we’ll keep playing” or “i give up”?
@ngie: next time we’ll start with a category AND how ’bout i give you one now: PERSON (yes, this is for this line of questioning.) i’ll not give any more hints, but reread the questions and if i’m still terrible at this game, i’ll give another hint. all my answers have been correct - i’ve checked with multiple objective third parties.
is it a “he”?
is it a “he”? YES! (13)
YAY! now we’re makin’ progress!

And yes to maybe is he on the planet earth means that he is buried - I am assuming (that wasn’t a question)
was he a religious figure?

(i know - totally sad about steve irwin…
c’mon angie — ask a question!
Alece is a question hog! (You were the only on at the same time for a bit)
If you win, you get to be the answerer on my next 20 questions post…or maybe it should just pass to whoever’s blog wins? What do you think?
It’s ok to hog the questions - if you are asking good ones…
pressure!
ok ok ok
Is he on the northern hemisphere?
ok - that wink was not supposed to be a wink. just the end parenthesis. shame.
nothing from antiblog?
(are there penalties for wrong guesses, or can i just start naming people?!?! ha ha)
Is he on the northern hemisphere? yes (
I’ve done the same with smileys.
northern hemisphere?
no penalites.
but will count as a question
ok - good Northern hemisphere - yes
A guess is a question! And they do count! (or at least that is how we have always played - - -I could be wrong) What are the house rules?
ok…you can’t do an 8 and a “)” will give you a sunglass face…8 questions left
it’ll count as a question? fuggarugga!
i aint guessing.
not ever.
i hate being wrong in things like this.
competitive. and perfectionist. bad combo.
Ha Ha Ha
yes. a guess will count as a question, but you won’t be penalized in a different way. fuggg….a…rugga.
C’MON!
You are such a C Alece - c’mon - take a ride on the wild side
fine.

will it help if i change the rules…doesn’t count as a question? you’ve invested this much…..

LOL. your loaded “fine” made me laugh.
is it paul? no (7…since you played along I thought we should keep original rules…unless you object)
[as it stands i have 23 new messages in my inbox with the comments from this little game]
bummer. i am curious now if it’s who my first choice was. i’ll have to wait and see. i need to hit the sack! but it was fun all being online together playing this game!

(no objection by the way)

(note to viewers…we weren’t actually up at 430 am…timestamp is off…will fix later)
Tyler is sitting here with me eating breakfast and he is getting all excited seeing your banner picture of your two dollies! Pointing and smiling and “talking”.
old testament figure?
old testament figure? no (3)
Wait a minute!!! So comment 30 says “religious” figure - which I assumed meant bible character - shame on me!
Not New Testament
Not Old Testament
Because = Not BIBLE
(ok this is me assuming again… could be off)
Good question Alece! Ask another one.
But we do know he was a father (comment 71)
I bet you were cracking up laughing at me last night Danielle!
is he a christian religious figure??? (maybe we’re way off here)
Wow - you are really good at this Alece! What a great question!
is he a christian religious figure??? yes…2
(should we extend the game 7 questions more since i goofed and didn’t give the subject until 7 questions in…
what do you think?
As an aside - I was mulling over this and thought to myself, “Why would she have said he was white if he was a bible character. She would have been more culturally aware than to say that he was white when he was in fact olive complexion or another ethnicity.” I was stumped. So that should have been the non bible clue.
So we’ve got a white dad, buried in the Northern Hemisphere that was a Christian religious figure.
hmmm
To answer your question…
There is a version of the game that is played without categories. So I will leave it up to you. But I would suggest that if you do institute the category rule in the future that you clearly define the categories that can be given. Might want to make a list of categories and make the answerer choose from those few.
@ng…i know better than that. lol. i even chuckled as i answered that question thinking that should be a good clue.
Okay, okay. I’m obviously a rookie…SO to make you all want to come back, lets meet in the middle and add 3 extra questions. SO now there are 5 questions left.
In the future, the answerer can decide if she (or he) wants to give a category and there will be a list of categories from which to choose.
Was he European?
Was he European? yes! (youre getting warmer) 4 left
european? immapean! ha ha.
did he die in the current century? (i’m so bad — i’m not even positive what century i’m in so i had to word it like that!)
Was he a proselyte?
did he die in the current century? no …3 left
Was he a proselyte? (one religion then changed to another)? maybe … hard to answer….2 left
more no than maybe
no
Alece - fyi - we are in the 21st century. The 21st century will end December 31, 2100.
another fyi - I had to look it up - I didn’t know either.
btw - do you have a clue as to who this guy is???
(I abbreviated just ’cause I know you love it when people do that… hee hee hee)
Going to go out on a limb here and guess.
Is it George Mueller?
Is it George Mueller?

(that last comment was me — i even checked, but i guess i didn’t stop to count the “l’s”. oops)
I like your wordpress spot!!! Is the change official?!
You girls have been having fun with this 20 questions business!!! I’ll try and catch the next one a little sooner
i have NO IDEA!
Just guess somethin’ Alece… 50 / 50 chance - either you guess it right or you guess it wrong.
I give you permission to not be perfect - - - just this once though.
Or we will stand in awe of your divining abilities…
i really want to spill the beans but i don’t think that would be fair (and danielle would hurt me). BWAAHAAHAAHAAA (that was me laughing in a very sinister voice)
gah. i really have no idea.
complete guess:
is it … martin luther?
That was one of my guesses too…
YES!!! YES!!! YES!!! nice…20 questions! (maybe 23)
Was this fun for you? If you are interested in playing again next week or whenever, Alece would be the answerer…what do you think?
No way!!!
I mean - I am happy for you and all…
But I would have guessed Luther except that the answer was ‘no’ to “Was he a proselyte?” and Luther was a most devout Catholic monk before he changed and left the church. He was excommunicated after his little note that he nailed to the door of the church denouncing their un-biblical practices.
Unless you are not considering Christianity a religion - which I guess I can understand…
I digress…
This was fun. I totally will play again. Alece - just let us know the day and I will be there.
Such a fun idea Danielle.
sure. i’ll have to think of something GOOD! and hopefully have time to be online to answer the questions!
fun game. thanks, friend!
Angie,
That was why I waivered on the prostelyte question. I am aware of his catholic / lutheran / reformation sitatuation but as I thought about it I figured (in accoradance of Vatican II
) that Catholics and Protestants are both “saved”. Even though Catholicism was in error then, it was technically Christianity. And I didn’t think making up a new way (Lutheranism) was the same as converting. Still, I wouldn’t consider enlightenment the same as conversion. Neither would I consider a Catholic/Lutheran conversion a change of relilgions. It was a tough question with lots of different ways to look at it.
All in all, I had a lot of fun as I hope you all (you two) did. Alece, when you are ready and feel up to it let me know and we’ll start another one.
Ah - I understand now. Cool.
It’s a tricky thing that religion thing.
I did have a bunch of fun.
oh poo. I missed the whole thing. It was fun reading, though. Glad he didn’t need water.
There are lots ‘o comments on here.
Whoa.
