the one
2008 June 17
We found the one. We walked through 24 houses and a week ago today we met our new home. The purchase agreements have been signed by both parties so the pending the inspection…the house is ours! It is about 10 minutes from our current home.
The gate in the backyard fence opens to the parking lot of a private school that has a nice playground. In the fall they host a fun festival. A few blocks away is the community center that has a nice workout area, a swimming pool, a water park, a walking/biking trail and has fun classes (like gymnastics – I know the girls will love it!).
The house is in great shape (this will be even more confirmed by the inspection this week) but some of the decor is out of date. It seems Jesus picked it that way as a gift for me. I love the thought of being able to pick things out and update it ourselves.
See? Out of date – but big and in good condition. Plans are underway.
A wet bar in the finished basement. Plans include transforming this into a retro soda shop.
Daniel is pretty excited that the pool table is staying.
Thanks for all the prayers. And…I’ll try to post pictures of our current home (oops!) before we start packing. The next few weeks will be a fun, fast paced whirlwind.

AWESOME! God is so good! The house looks incredible!
I like your banner picture.
I am so happy for you with your new house.
So happy you found a place to call home! It is pretty stylin, that basement. Really some of that stuff is coming back, maybe you should just leave it?
I do like the kitchen a lot…..a little work and it will be beautiful! Can’t wait to see the renovation pictures!!
I do like the basement and the pool table. Looks like good times ahead!
congrats! How fun. The neighborhood sounds awesome. The girls will love that!
Yay!
What good news.
24, eh? We’re going house hunting this upcoming week. I’ll keep count and let you know how it goes.
The shedding is going alright. My brother got married, so we had guests, and the shedding was on halt, but it should begin again soon. Thanks for asking about that; I appreciate it.
Congratulations! How exciting!!!! Jenn
Congratulations friend- this is such a big step… it feels so grown up, so committed… you have roots!!!
Thanks for continuing to ask about me.
I think we too, have found “the one”. We must’ve looked at roughly the same amount of houses (MAN is that tiring. Who would’ve thought?), and found an absolutely gorgeous house. We actually find out today whether they’ll accept the offer or not- then it’ll be bargaining time. Pretty sure we have the house, though.
While it’s basically my parents (and mine) dream house, coming back here was really stifling. We were so picky with houses, who would want ours? My parents are overwhelmed at all that needs to get done before our house will even be desirable to somebody else. Prayer would be appreciated.
It’s not the purging so much, it’s how much we have to fix that’s making them want to pull the sheets over their heads. This is something I can’t help with, because I’m no “handy man”, so I feel at a loss as to how to be a good helper too. Any ideas?
i’m so glad i finally got to see this post! the house looks amazing. (i think you’ll have fun with that basement!) i’m so so so happy for you guys!
give me a call when you’re home from vacation and let’s catch up for reals!
congratulations, that is such exciting news. make sure you take pictures as you “make it yours” to share with us!
those barstools rock!
