Seed Faith

We Plant a Seed (A Troll First-Start Science Reader)

We were reading this book to the girls last night and had our faith strengthened! Here’s what we read:

I watch and wait for my seed to keep it’s promise.

Mmmm. These are some seeds I’ve been planting lately:

My son, do not forget my law…

Fear the LORD and depart from evil.
It will be health to your flesh,
      And strength to your bones…
Happy is the man who finds wisdom,
      And the man who gains understanding;
For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver,
And her gain than fine gold.
She is more precious than rubies,
And all the things you may desire cannot compare with her.
Length of days is in her right hand,
In her left hand riches and honor.
Her ways are ways of pleasantness,
And all her paths are peace.
She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her,
And happy are all who retain her.

From Proverbs 3.

What Word have you been thinking about this week?

Helping Daddy

To give the moms a break Daniel is leading worship on Sunday for the first time in a looooooong time (since our church closed in ‘06). The girls were helping him practice. Emma was helping strum and Anna was organizing his music.

We’d love it if you came!

I’ll Admit It

I bought the Enchanted soundtrack. I love this movie - it’s sweet, has great acting, fun music and it makes me laugh. The bonus is that Emma also loves the movie and even Daniel enjoys it. Anna seems pretty mesmerized when it is on. I like it so much I can’t even decide which is the funniest line, my favorite part or my favorite song. I think part of it is that 1) it’s a grown up fairy tale and 2) it’s a princess movie with actual non-animated people in it. Movies of the princess genre have been dominating our tv time. Have you seen it?

So, what will you admit, has been your “most embarrassing” music or movie purchase?

To Borrow from Orphan Annie: I Think I’m Gonna Like It Here

Emma gets stir crazy and I can relate (it must be genetic) so when I saw the thermometer outside read 60+ this morning, I made the executive decision to head to the park with the girls. There is nothing quite like the I’m-so-gitty-I-can’t-control-my-giggles smile on a two year old at the park (especially the first couple times of spring). Priceless.

After the park (sorry this is redundant for eDaniel readers…what can I say? I was here first, so you’ll just have to read double sometimes) it was as if our neighbors came out of hibernation. They were all in their front yards playing and talking. There are at least three other 2-3 year olds in a 3 house radius. The families described themselves as “front yarders who all share toys and play”. Neighbors were walking up to us saying “Oh, you’re Daniel and Danielle,(yeah….how do you know that?!). so nice to meet you. Your names won’t be hard to remember (Almost EVERY time we meet someone new say that but yet somehow people don’t remember!) ” Turns out a family we grew up knowing from church is about 3 houses away and they warned everyone about us. Our street ends at a golf course fence and every 4th of July they do amazing fireworks. Well, I guess here, it’s like a huge block party. They all sit at the end of the road, bbq, and play. I think it will be a fun summer. The extrovert in me is Luh-ov-ing this (now…if we can just get the basement to stop stinking like cat peepee).

Good Morning

I woke up this morning to Emma softly rubbing my face and whispering “I love you Momma”.

if the shoe fits

we went shoe shopping today. actually, i went shoe shopping and the family followed me. i was trying on merrells (my favorites) and berkinstocks. the shoes i tried on:

and while i am girly and love pretty things i usually opt for casual, comfy shoes. emma on the other hand, is hilarious to shoe shop with. she pulled off her cowgirls boots and tried on the bling-iest shoes she could get her little hands on….and then walked around the store in 3 inches heels over white toddler socks. the shoes emma tried on:

these are red with white polka dots. everytime we see fancy shoes she goes nuts over ‘em!
and by the way…. i got a great deal on both pairs of my shoes for a total of $70 (courtesy of my maternity clothes sale) although emma did not purchase any shoes today.
and happy new year! (my first post of 2008!)

late night conversation

“so, emma, what do you want to do? do you want to play for a couple more minutes or do you want to go to bed?”

her eyes light up “park….boat”

“you want to go to the park and go on a boat?”

“yeh”

{laugh} “yeah, sorry that wasn’t an option”

“boat”…

(we ended up playing — a fair compromise between boat and night night)
